Tennis

LI: to learn the basic grip on a tennis racket.
This is the first week of tennis and our coach was Peter. For kiwi-sport we were learning the basic grip a tennis racket. We started kiwi-sport with a warm up, the we had to get into pairs. In our pairs, one person had to drop the ball and the other had to catch.

For our activity we were learning the fore hand and the backhand technique. Forehand is when one hand is on the bottom of the racket, backhand is when both of the hand is on the bottom of the racket. 


Cybersmart

LI: to understand legal use of images.
For cyber-smart we had to make a slide for a legal image and a illegal image. A legal image is when the owner allows you to use their images. Illegal images means that the owner doesn't let you their images.

Maori


LI: to learn Te Reo Maori.
For Maori we had to translate the thing they said  in the video, from two weeks ago. We had to use the Maori dictionary to find out what they said. Next we sat down with Whia Ote to do some Maori talking. She taught us some new Maori words, for how to call our siblings, we also learnt how to say no, yes and how to say, don't know.

Kiwi Can


LI: to show respect.
We started off kiwi can with our energiser. For our energiser we had to have a leader to go up to the kiwi can leader so they could know what to tell their group what to do. For example the kiwi can leader tells the group leader to tell their group, to spell respectful and every person in the group gets a letter. Then we talked about the things that were challenging. After that we moved on to our activity. For our activity we had to untie the human knot.

I commented on Xavier's blog post and he talked about his maths vocab. I talked about what I liked in his post and what he needed to work on.

Writing



LI: to revise the structure of a recount reaffirm the marking criteria.
The structure of a recount is TREE. TREE stands for Title, Reveal, Events and Ending. We had to write an imaginative recount about winning a sports game. We had to write this imaginative recount in test conditions. We couldn't talk to anyone, or search anything up. First we got time to do some planing then we had 40 mins to write our recount. My story was about winning a race tournament, after writing the recount we had to mark our own work. I marked my recount as a 29, next time I will try and improve.

Basic Fact Boxes


LI: to remember basic fact maths.
For my basic fact I did the speed demon challenge multiplication up to ten and my  time was 5m 59s.

SSR Selfie


LI: to summarise and retell a text.
My book is called The Witches. The main characters are, Grandmother, boy, MR and Mrs Jenkins, the Grand High Witch, Bruno Jenkins, and Mr Stringer. The three things I read in the story the boys mum and dad died in a car crash, a girl gets stuck in picture, and the boy gets called by witch.

Inquiry


LI: to put the businesses together.
For inquiry we had to put together the businesses in the order we wanted them to be in. We could pick if, we wanted to put them together buy colours or by what they do. In this picture we put the picture in order by what they did.

Reading

LI: to our books to the chapter we were told.
We had to pick Raold Dahl book to read for the week. Then we had to make book marks for our books so we can mark where we are up to. My book was called the witches, in the book there is a grandmother that likes talling stories to her grandchildren. In the story I have read that the grand mother told, was about a girl that ate a apple and the next day she got stuck in a painting in her grandmothers picture, feeding the ducks. She moves all the time without anyone noticing.\

Maori

LI: To understand the Maori language.
Our Maori teacher was Whia Otea and we sat down with her to practice our Maori talking. After practising we went to our groups and we had to do Nō hea koe - Wiki Rua. For this activity we had to write the countries in Maori. To find the countries out we had to do go on Maori dictionary.

Kiwi Can

LI: to learn how to respect.
For kiwi can our Theme is respect. Our kiwi can leaders are Mr Sea Manu and the other is Mrs Mac. We started off kiwi can with our energiser it is called Verses. For this game the kiwi can leaders has to say two topics and we have to pick one of them. We have to give an good argument to win a point. Then there were two groups and one group went with Mrs Mac and did some riddles the other group did some challenges. They had to get into pairs and they had to go back to back and try get up but without pushing with their hands. Their next challenge was to sit in a circle and try get up again and they had to make a pyramid with their bodies.

Math vocab

LI: to research.
We had to research the words that was put on the LS1 slide and we had to find out the definition and function about the topic, the topic is airplanes. After we did all the research we had to predict what we were going to do for our maths. We are making origami planes to study aerodynamic.

I did SSR Selfie and my book was called Beowulf. The main characters in the story was Hygelac, Beowulf, Wiglaf, Horthgar, Weatheow, Unferth, Grendel, Grendel's mother and the dragon.

For my basic fact maths I did the speed demon challenge up to 5 and it was addition. My time was 5m and 25s.

Rap/Poetry & Vocab

LI: to build knowledge of vocabulary, and links words to the wider world.
We have been talking about vocabulary and linking to the wider world. We had to make two slides, one for Rap or poetry and the other for our vocabulary.  For our rap and poetry you have to read the text and pick if it is a rap or a poem.



Enterprise & Business

LI: to define & describe the terms enterprise and business
Enterprise meaning online is "a project or undertaking, especially a bold or complex one". Which means to agree on a project or some work. Business's meaning online is "a person's regular occupation, profession or trade". Which means a person's job. We first started on with an activity. We had the word Enterprise. We had to guess what the meaning of Enterprise meant in our groups. We did the same thing with the word Business. We then in our groups had to put in our definitions of Enterprise & Business, and put it aside with the real definition. We then had to get a bunch of business's, local, national, and international. We then had to write down what they sell, and their price range.

Math recap

LI: to recall core skills and knowledge for addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, and division.

We did some recap from term 3. We did the recap by doing a game called s categories. We played the game a different way then it was supposed to. Instead playing the spelling way we played the game with maths.
In maths there 6 ways. There is adding and subtracting, multiplication, division, calculating area and perimeter and lastly fractions. The tricks you can use for addition are basic fact, tidy numbers, place value, repeated addition, rounding & compensating, written algorithm, and reversing.

Maori

LI: to learn Maori.
We had to watch a video and fill in some questions. We had to pronounce the thing they said in the video in English. Then we had to translate some words in English. I learnt that there 2 meaning for roa.



Kiwi Can

LI: to respect yourself.
Our Kiwi Can leaders were Mr Si manu and Mr Fasiatu For our first Kiwi Can for this term we talked about Niue n language week and some facts about Niue. After talking about Niue, we did our energiser. Our energiser was called Fruity Totti. For this game there are only three rules when Kiwi can says apple we have to jump forward, orange we have to jump back and banana we have to do a 180 degree spin. Then we did the activity. The game was call 1 truth 1 lie. One person has to come up and say 1 lie and 1 truth. We had to pick one of the things the person said, they would tell us if it was a lie.

Trip to the Bombay Temple

We went to Bombay temple and it took 50 minutes to get there. As we were going noticed that where the neighbourhood was mostly farms. When got there it was all rocky. Then we went inside and started to have a talk with the monk. The monk was talking about what Dharma means. I learnt that Dharma means freedom in the language of Buddhism. After having a talk we prayed so we could start our feast. First the monk went up to get the, we have to get the food last as showing respect.

Sunday school

I had Sunday school and we had to learn how to write in our own cultures. When we go to Sunday school we can not talk in English, we can only talk English when our teacher asks us to. Our Sunday school starts at the beginning of every year. First we start off with easy stuff than every year it gets harder. Our school starts at 12 o'clock then ends at 3 o'clock. We only have a 30 min break and we only have the break 1 time. There are levels, the people that are not smart and the smartest.
