Coding - Tech - Rock Paper Scissors

 LI: to learn how to code the microbit to play rock paper scissors  and understand how a flowchart works.

This week for tech we were tasked to code our microbit to play rock paper scissors. The code for the microbit is in the DLO ubove. We then created a Flow chart on a google drawing to show how the game works.  To test if the LED worked we played a game together as a class. 

1.When I shake, it will chose a random number between1 to 3. 

2.I have to make a variable called and set this to the random nuber.

3.If the number is 1 - the microbit will show the symbol for Paper.

4.If the number is 2 - the microbit will show the symbol for Rock.

3.If the number is 3 - the microbit will show the symbol for Scissors.

I enjoyed this task because we got to learn what a flowchart is and how to code the microbit.

Tech Reflections

 LI: to learn how work with wood and the tools used.

This week for Tech we started off by Mr Grundy explaining what we do. Once I finished drawing my eight designs and I chose to make a Tractor. I started cutting my wood pieces and I started on my joints. To make the joints we need to measure the width to half way, next we used a chisel to make the chisel. The tools we needed was, a chisel, saw, mallet, and a pencil. I enjoyed doing wood carving this week because we got to move on to the next step.

Tech Reflection

 LI: to make toys out of wood.

This week for camp we were finishing off our drawing designs. The type of toy I'm going to make a toy tractor if I have more I am going to make a toy digger. I started on the tractor and so far I'm up to cutting the wood. Before we cut the we had to make sure we had the right measurements. I started by measuring the joints of the of the tractor. The joints on the tractor was 90mm's long.

 LI: to learn how to work with wood.

Our second week of tech we started using wood, with the wood we traced it to make the measurement of the toys we wanted to make. I wanted to make a digger but MR Grundy said make a tractor first and if we have time I might be able to make a Digger. We used a piece of wood to make sure the calculations are correct.

Tech Reflection - Wood Work

 LI: to learn how to work with wood.

This week was our first week of Tech, with Mr Grundy. He introduced us to himself and told us the rules and the boundaries of the class we worked in. We learnt that when working with wood there is always a wedge. Then he showed us toys he and his and his students made with wood, in my opinion my favourite toy he made was a toy zoo train. Next we tried to draw what 8 toys might be able to make with the wedges. I'm going to make a digger or a train.

2020 Tech Reflection

 LI: to reflect on tech.

This years tech was confusing and fun. We had go on lock - down for a couple of months and we were still doing tech. This year was very rough but still was very fun doing tech. Going to tech we got to do Robotics, cooking and science. We were able to meet new teachers that helped us learn and experience new things we never knew or never done it before. I would like to thank the teachers Mrs Ferguson, Mrs Heka and Mrs Sharma for helping learn new things.

Tech Reflection

 LI: to learn about plants.

This week was the last week for science tech, and we learnt about plants. We first talked about the structure of the plant and how plants grow. We learnt about the parts in plants, for example the guard cell. We first wrote down in our books the 5 questions and what we know about food tech. Next we collected 10 leafs for our table and we had 2 minutes to collect them, we wrote down the length of the leaves, texture, the size, the colour and the pattern. 

Food Technology

LI: to practise knife cutting.

For tech we were at Tamaki College and our teacher was called Mrs Heka. We were practising knife skills, and we made a colourful fruit salad. We had yellow and green kiwi fruit, grapes and orange that we had to segment them by removing the skin and end of the fruits. We had to measure one cup of yogurt, and layer the fruit with yogurt. That's our colourful fruit salad done.

Tech Reflection

For tech this week were doing robotics and our teacher was called Mrs Ferguson. This week we did some coding, Our robots are called mBots and to do the coding we used mBlock. For the mBots we did Algorithms. The challenge is to make noise for the robots and lights.

Tech Reflection

For our subject for tech this term we are doing robotics. For robotics this week we were introduced to Mrs Furgeson. To start it off we learnt what input, algorithm and output was. We had to make make another memory for our robots. Our robots were called M-bots. We could change their light colours when we turn them on.
