LI: to learn about the Current Events
For my Current Events map I have picked out two articles from Kiwi Kids News, that relate to New Zealand and the World. The first article I picked out was about E - Sports becoming a official national sport in New Zealand. The article type is Timeliness. Timeliness articles, are articles that are talking about something recent. This relates because E - Sport has only just become an official sport a couple of days ago. The next article I picked out was about the Paralympic having to be postponed till 2021.

Homelearning Activity
For my homelearning activity I started off with doing Skyline Luge which is a kind of park or restaurant in Rotorua. The activities were actually made from students from LS2 so all these ideas were from the students. The first activity I did was to talk about why we wear helmets on the Luge Ride, and how it protects us and the problems we would face without it. The second activity told us to choose an activity from Skyline Luge, and add up all the cost of how much it would cost if our family went on every ride. Our bonus activity was to find out the distance from Auckland to Rotorua using plane and car, and we had to pick a transportation type and why.

Provocation
LI: to explore Provocations
This week we have bee exploring both sides of a provocation. A Provocation is a action or speech that triggers a really strong feeling for a topic. A Provocation is usually in book titles to hook in the reader and trigger there feels for the topic of the book. Our Provocation was "Should New Zealand become a Cashless Society?". A Cashless Society is a economy that uses credit cards or technology to pay rather then paying with actual notes and coins. After considering both perspectives (or sides) we think that New Zealand should not be a Cashless Society because there are people who don't know how to use it, or they just can't afford it. It also is a waste of money, because we pay a company to make money for us and distribute it around New Zealand. There are also some Pros on Cashless Society but the Cons have to many drawbacks.

Explorer vs Adventurer
We had images of explorers and adventurers and put them on what they are. We learnt about why they are adventurers and explorers. There were more explorers than adventurers, some of them were both, because they not only found land they had fun at the same time.

Places named by early explorers
This week we have created google maps charting out the places that Abel Tasman, Kupe, and James Cook was named by or named after. We also had to find out the meanings and how and why they were named that. We completed this is pairs, my partner was Ong. We used our smart reasearching skills to find some places named after the 3 explorers. Abel Tasman, James Cook, and Kupe were the founders of New Zealand. Kupe found New Zealand first, then Abel Tasman, and then James Cook. They all found NZ by accident.
Past & Present
For this activity we had to figure out what was the difference between Captain Cook and Kupe's boat and waka comparing tho the boats now. We had to write down the problems about the boats.
